[occ2] Friday ride report

September 4th 2020 MDT

Seventeen members came out to enjoy a 45 mile ride to Skaneateles and back, stopping at La Patisserie for their great pastries.  Unfortunately, the ride leader failed to call ahead and they ran out of Apple Stix.  Next time I won’t underestimate the popularity of this ride and make sure they know we’re coming.  Weather was great, cooler, with a pretty stiff breeze at times.  The tailwind was nice though, when there was one… Thanks to everyone who came out today.  It’s good to see our number ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Wed Ride Report

September 3rd 2020 MDT

5 riders knocked off 161 miles.  There was a very light rain in Caz with just a hair of road spray along East Lake Road, but it faded after passing the lake.  Otherwise, dry roads.  Surprisingly, the wind wasn't a problem.  I was the last in at 7:44 pm and the light was still good. I have not been able to ride much this summer so I got to experience sore neck & shoulders, hands, butt and the bottoms of my feet.  Ain't life grand?  Nevertheless, it felt good to take a good club ride ...Continue Reading

[occ2] SnE West ride report

September 3rd 2020 MDT

Well it was another perfect night for a ride.  We had 24 riders doing 490 miles with no reports of any mechanical issues.  Unfortunately Mother Nature is taking away our sunlight.  Next week sunset is around 7:30 pm making it difficult to do rides as long as they have been without changing the start time.  We have polled the riders in the past and have never moved the start time to 5:30.  I know I am opening the proverbial “bag of worms” .  So please reply to me, yes or no, by Sunday.  ...Continue Reading

[occ2] OCC Tuesday Night Time Trial - week 8 - RESULTS

September 2nd 2020 MDT

One thing I've learned while running the TT is that you never know what Mother Nature decides to deliver at start time.  I was sure we would see a brisk 10mph S to SE breeze.. hoping it would be SE - the more favorable direction.  Well for some reason the breeze eased to almost nil... there was some puff from the SE, but nothing significant. We had 9 riders show up to take on the course.  Perhaps my optimistic, nearly guaranteeing PRs prediction drew them out again. I can't take credit for the PRs (unless ...Continue Reading
