[occ2] Fwd: [occ2] Disturbing the eagles

October 27th 2018 MDT

I have have been stopped at least three times from riding the last 2 miles of the current trail because of a concert that was happening later that day. One of these times, the trail was closed at noon, blocked by a police car sitting on the trail a good 1/2 mile before the fence that surrounds the property. This was a Saturday, when there were many people on the trail.  The other thing is that coming from the east, it is more convenient, and less driving, to park at the east end of the current trail, in the St ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Disturbing the eagles

October 26th 2018 MDT

Well given that cyclists aren't allowed to disturb the concerts that take place at the ampitheatre plopped right in the middle of the west side trail, I don't see much point in worrying about building a trail around the south end of the lake. I think the idea of a trail completely circling the lake was killed when they built that ampitheatre. My two cents.Karen Kelly ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Onondaga Lake Bike Path to disturb Eagles

October 26th 2018 MDT

Members might want to know that the County Legislature is going to vote soon on siting the Bike Path around the Lake through the roosting area of the Bald Eagles on Murphy’s Island (across from Destiny).   I think many bikers would not like to see this happen.   The County is going back on its word to site the trail on the railroad tracks, not an area disturbing the Eagles.   Emergency meeting tonight at N. Syracuse Community Center, 700 S. Bay Rd., 6pm, sponsored by Onondaga Audubon.  ...Continue Reading
