All, I’m the ride leader for Saturday’s ride starting at the Wellwood School in Fayetteville across from Beard Park. Earlier this week the forecast was for rain but Mother Nature is (hopefully) going to spare us from another wet ride. The forecast calls for sunny skies with temps in the low 70’s. It was an interesting night on the Time Trial course.  The temperature started out at a nice, warm 82 degrees with an 8pm breeze from the SW.   As the cold front and storms moved in just to the north of the course, the winds took a dramatic shift to the NW and then N about 15 minutes after the TT start time.   As I waited at the finish line I was inundated by a maelstrom of silver and red maple 'copter (also known as whirlybirds) seeds.    Luckily, the rain stayed to the north, and the ...Continue Reading

A warm night with 30 riders doing 530 miles.  Multiple questions “do think it is going to rain?” response NO.  But it did just briefly and enough to get some of the roads wet and loosen the dirt.  Bike needs some cleansing.  Had one flat just as they left the parking lot.  Fortunately, my car was unlocked and they had access to the cookies.  We were rewarded with a rainbow!!      ...Continue Reading
