[occ2] Marble Farms ride report

August 28th 2017 MDT

A baker's dozen turned out to ride rather than helping others break the State Fair attendance record on a perfect weather day. Three did the full metric, three did the short version with the lovely descent of Lord's Hill and the rest did a half century.   BTW, Marble Farms served their homemade ice cream from 1942-1994.😁 ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Tomorrow's (Sunday) Ride

August 26th 2017 MDT

*_Marble Farms Metric_**__*25-62 miles.  Four options. The fourth, short(est) option of 25mi avoids most of the 'hilly' sections.    The others have one, two or three climbs depending on the ldistance of your choice. This ride originated in 1994, celebrating Onondaga County's bicentennial with a century ride which touched each and every township within the county. We 'celebrated' in those days partaking of the wonderful, homemade ice cream at the Marble Farms Diary across the street from the ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Friday ride

August 25th 2017 MDT

Another great day to ride and another great ride!  Rudy’s is a classic ride and we even had a couple people with us who had never been there!   Seventeen of us hit the roads this morning with six opting to do the short mileage and the rest doing the long route.  As we got to Oswego, the students were coming back so traffic was a bit congested through the college and Rudy’s was quite busy.  We all stopped to refuel with the most popular item being milkshakes or some other ice cream product.  ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Saturday ride

August 24th 2017 MDT

I will be leading the ride on Saturday.  In addition to the primary 65 mile route I will have maps for a 30, 37 and 52 mile route as well.  The shorter routes bypass the tough Otisco Rd. climb but still provide enough challenge to make it interesting.  Weather forecast is sunny and 60-70 degrees - doesn't get any better than that!   Shawn ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Friday ride

August 24th 2017 MDT

Tomorrow’s ride is the famous Rudy’s ride from Phoenix to the shores of Lake Ontario.  There are two options – 58 and 42 miles.  The longer route goes to Rudy’s and it’s typical that everyone stops there to refuel.  Their choices include an assortment of fried foods or ice cream.  Milkshakes are a favorite, too, but make sure there’s time to enjoy it.  The shorter ride goes to Minetto and there’s the option to visit the new Byrne Dairy in Phoenix after the ride.   Hope to see you tomor ...Continue Reading

August 24th 2017 MDT

Below is the report from last evening’s ride from Ride Leader John: For Wednesday night’s ride twenty seven riders rode 807 miles for a very challenging Rte 91 Pratts Falls- Fabius Loop. There were no flats or mechanicals but a cold rain at 7:45 added an additional unpleasantness and drove the temperature down to 63 degrees. There were 7 ambitious riders who rode the long 38 mile route with some returning only 3 minutes after sunset and one a little later. There were no post ride festivities. - Ride Leader John Son ...Continue Reading
