Hi Everyone, The next *Slow ‘n Easy West* ride scheduled for Tuesday June 7, 2015 will leave from the west end parking lot of Reed Webster Park in Camillus, located on Warners Rd (Rt 173), promptly at 6:00 PM. Please arrive early so that you can sign in and be ready to depart on time. The forecast for Tuesday shows unsettled weather: mostly cloudy with showers in the area. A high of 72 is predicted. Thank you to all who offered advice – it was most appreciated – I ended up riding a couple of different road bikes – the CAAD8, Allez and the Diverge and I ended up settling on the Specialized Diverge A1 – I liked the way it felt and didn’t mind the 30mm tires – I did ride the Erie Canal trail this evening in Dewitt and once I left the paved area into the crushed gravel I could see the Diverge being a little easier to ride on that surface… The decision was made a little easier because I do also have an older Canno ...Continue Reading

Hi Matt! Welcome!Be sure to try lots of bikes before buying! You never know what’s going to be the “perfect” bike for you. I prefer older bikes as they’re WAY less expensive and fun to work on myself (and unless I lose about 50 lbs, the bike isn’t going to be the deciding factor on my performance).There are plenty of charity rides around CNY, and OCC usually has a team to ride with. Hey all, I registered for the club this week as I just started riding a few weeks ago (as a cross training option for running – and I found I like riding better J ). I am shopping for a road bike now – I really liked the Specialized Diverge I rode yesterday (not a true road bike but close) and will go out to B’ville today to ride a Cannondale (CAAD8 or Syanpse).
