Hi,I was looking over the weather radar and there are a number of scattered rain pockets that seem to be moving through the Syracuse area at the moment…depending on where you are located. To the west of these there does not seem to be a lot of rain pockets following…it looks clear back to Iowa. Considering the speed at which they are moving and the fact that it appears to be clear to the west, I plan to be at the park per normal. If it should rain at all, I would bet it will pass quickly. See yo ...Continue Reading

I am looking for suggestions for a decent bike rack for the back of my Mazda that will be durable but also limit the amount of damage done to my car (worried about scratches and marks on my car where the hooks go on/around the trunk). I don’t have a trailer hitch currently on either of my cars. Can anyone suggest a good bike rack or possibly ways to cushion/protect the hooks from scratching my car? Currently I use my minivan to move my bike around when I go out riding – but I’m not always be able to do that – s ...Continue Reading

Friday, we’ll be doing Joan’s Breakfast Ride. The ride will start at LONGBRANCH PARK (park on the west side of the bridge, not at the boathouse). The cue says the stop in Skaneateles is mandatory. We usually stop at La Patisserie for some great treats and an obligatory picture. They always seem to enjoy seeing us. So if you can’t stop, you’ll be missing out, but you can still have a great ride. Plus be aware, we usually come back a different way on the return route eliminating 321.&n ...Continue Reading

Thank you to all who offered advice – it was most appreciated – I ended up riding a couple of different road bikes – the CAAD8, Allez and the Diverge and I ended up settling on the Specialized Diverge A1 – I liked the way it felt and didn’t mind the 30mm tires – I did ride the Erie Canal trail this evening in Dewitt and once I left the paved area into the crushed gravel I could see the Diverge being a little easier to ride on that surface… The decision was made a little easier because I do also have an older Canno ...Continue Reading
