*Thursday - * Will Jumbo work for Kuss? Only 8 seconds between Vinge and Kuss. Vinge says he wants Kuss to win. Vinge merely followed Roglic the previous day. Cyborg Roglic trying to establish alpha position on the team? They didn't know how far back Kuss may have been. Roglic and Vinge clearly taking a PR hit on how they handled the Angliru finish. I had predicted Evenepoel would go out in the break again. Not exactly a long shot. He miscalcul ...Continue Reading

While it started out a bit on the cool side, it really couldn’t have been a better weather for a ride. There were more than 60 in attendance that enjoyed the ride, the food (Thanks Roland), and the company. We even had a few people from Auburn bike club. The last rider in from the 100 mile ride, better his time from last year even though they made a wrong turn on Whiting Road, making a short climb up Kester Road before realizing their error. Likely the steep climb helped jog their memory. All in all a g ...Continue Reading

Well, Evenepoel indeed did save up his energy on Tuesday to attack on Wednesday's stage. He went out in the breakaway and was very frisky. It seemed he passed up water bottles on the penultimate climb and that may have come back to haunt him. He was completely on his own on much of that climb. His descent to the base of the scary Angrilu was very conservative and his lead over the peloton at the bottom of the climb was only just over a minute. Team Bahrain was all in ...Continue Reading

The sun is leaving us sooner so this was the last scheduled Wed ride of 2023So 14 riders came out to enjoy a sort of coolish and some wind evening.I had to push the group out onto the road to get them back before dark.Too much bantering.Somehow 11 of those were the quicker riders who averaged 22 or more MPH of the 32 mile or more range. Was it the flat terrain of the opportunity to move fast together. The other 3 less quicker riders averaged 16 mph of the 28 mile variety. At the end there was the oarmeal and raisin ...Continue Reading
