[occ2] OCC ride report 8/9/26 Windmills

August 9th 2026 MDT

A day where the weather cooperated on temperature and wind. For the first half of the day there was wind at out backs for the hilliest portion of the ride.  Then a cooling wind on the way back.   This is a popular ride with 15 participants.  When I returned my car was the last one.  Not many cookies were eaten however.   Most did above 60 miles or more.   There was a bridge out on east lake near Hamilton.  One rider suggested Hill road as a bypass.  However there was a detour whic ...Continue Reading

[occ2] Friday ride report

August 9th 2026 MDT

From: mailto: Five of us embarked on Friday’s ride out of Tully. Quite warm but a nice ride. Coming up Rt11 towards Tully was a HUGE convoy of Brockway trucks headed toward Cortland (I’m guesstimating 50 or so). Apparently, a weekend event. These trucks created a bit of a headwind! We all rode together for 34miles with a nice scenic cutoff avoiding further riding on Rt80. Submitted by fearless ride leader KellyWheeler Sent from my iPad ...Continue Reading

[occ2] OCC uesday Night Time Trial results - week 11

August 7th 2026 MDT

We had a great night for the Tuesday night TT.   Temps varied between 77-82 degrees on the course. The shady areas on Black Creak stay on the cooler side.  The breeze was almost non-existant.  Maybe 2-3 mph from the NW shifting to the NE.  Five TTers rolled to the line. Hop again came "oh, so close!" to the 25mph sound barrier as he rocketed through the course donning his red "flash" speedsuit.  He took FMT honors with a near PR time of 24:03(24.94mph).    ...Continue Reading

[occ2] SNE

August 7th 2026 MDT

I second those sentiments, Mike. I have an illustration of how it could be. In recent seasons, the Thursday Slow N Easy ride out of Minoa has evolved into a Hammerfest probably owing to the flat terrain. While this can be cool, slower riders are often blown off the back of the group shortly into the ride. A week ago (July 30), the 23-mile group split off into two groups, one going to Oneida Lake and the other continuing on the regular route. About 6 of us decided to stay together as a pace line, during the entire ride, ...Continue Reading

August 7th 2026 MDT

I am getting on my soapbox because I think it’s time to say what I have been seeing at the Slow N Easy west ride.  When this ride formed back in 2009 it was designed to give new riders a safe place to participate in group rides.  It took a couple of years for that to occur.  At its height we usually had between 40-50 riders every week and four different routes.  Now we have three different routes and if we get 30 riders it’s a lot.  I know cycling in general isn’t as popular as in previous years ...Continue Reading
