From: mailto: Not much to report. Just 3 riders braved the humidity to tackle the flat roads between Fayetteville, Canastota, Whitelaw, and Kirkville. No incidents to speak of, just a brief delay while waiting for fresh asphalt to be laid as we came into Canastota. Chestnut Ridge Rd., which has been much discussed on the list recently, was very nice. Eddie Luban ...Continue Reading

Chestnut Ridge is lined, and seems there’s less room for cyclists. The photos show an area with an exceptionally narrow shoulder, but most is not a foot wide or less. I think the pavement is actually narrower than the former width. The RR crossing at Canaseraga and New Boston Rd. is open once again. ...Continue Reading

While there was a threat of thunderstorms, the TTers only had to deal with light showers for the final 10 minutes of their ride. Two TTers rolled to the line for their Race of Truth. Conditions were rather nice - 82 degrees with very light winds. Ken Toscano took the FMT honors with what turned out to be a recovery ride for him. The long weekend rides had taken its toll and he stated he couldn't push his HR beyond the 140s. I hope I didn't break HIPPA rules with that ...Continue Reading

*_Reply sent to Kelly directly but resending to the club list:_*I inadvertently cycled this road with my road bike back in 2021 when the bridge on New Boston was under construction. It is a gravel road that runs into a closed bridge crossing a stream. The bridge was passable by foot and bike, and the gravel on the road was rideable with my 28mm tires.Would I purposely ride it again on my road bike? No.On Wed, Jul 31, 2024 at 8:10 AM Kelly Wheeler kelly42158@PROTECTED [occ2] <occ2@PROTECTED> wrote: From: mailt ...Continue Reading

It was quite a night. Ten riders showed up by car. The skies opened up at about 5:45. Another rider decided to bike to the ride, and they arrived during the down pour. Two riders left while the others waited out the rain. The rain let up and off we went. In a little more than a mile the roads were bone dry for the vast majority of the ride. All nine riders did 22 miles (you do the math) and enjoyed post ride goodies. Don’t forget that this Saturday’s ride starts at my house, 1356 Daboll ...Continue Reading
