While it started out a bit on the cool side, it really couldn’t have been a better weather for a ride. There were more than 60 in attendance that enjoyed the ride, the food (Thanks Roland), and the company. We even had a few people from Auburn bike club. The last rider in from the 100 mile ride, better his time from last year even though they made a wrong turn on Whiting Road, making a short climb up Kester Road before realizing their error. Likely the steep climb helped jog their memory. All in all a g ...Continue Reading

Well, Evenepoel indeed did save up his energy on Tuesday to attack on Wednesday's stage. He went out in the breakaway and was very frisky. It seemed he passed up water bottles on the penultimate climb and that may have come back to haunt him. He was completely on his own on much of that climb. His descent to the base of the scary Angrilu was very conservative and his lead over the peloton at the bottom of the climb was only just over a minute. Team Bahrain was all in ...Continue Reading

The sun is leaving us sooner so this was the last scheduled Wed ride of 2023So 14 riders came out to enjoy a sort of coolish and some wind evening.I had to push the group out onto the road to get them back before dark.Too much bantering.Somehow 11 of those were the quicker riders who averaged 22 or more MPH of the 32 mile or more range. Was it the flat terrain of the opportunity to move fast together. The other 3 less quicker riders averaged 16 mph of the 28 mile variety. At the end there was the oarmeal and raisin ...Continue Reading

Well, I sacrificed some sleep to get caught up on the Vuelta last night. Tuesday's stage proved to be significant! Vingegaard the Vindicator did it again! He blasted up the final climb to take a minute back from his "teammate" American Sepp Kuss. Kuss implied at the beginning of the stage that it was set up perfectly for Roglic. But, it was Vinge that took off. Kuss finished a few seconds behind Roglic and didn't seem to have the kick that he ...Continue Reading

Tonight was the last scheduled Time Trial for the season and Mother Nature decided to be kind and grant us summer conditions. The temperature was around 75 degrees and the breeze was almost non-existent. Three contestants showed up to squeeze in another time trial. Phil rode his newly built-up rig, a Specialized Tarmac SL7, and managed to equal his PR from over 3 years ago. He blasted through the course in 27:03 (22.19mph). Our sky cam documented an interesting battle between Dick and ...Continue Reading
