Hi folks, Last night registration closed for this weekends 22nd annual Race Weekend, and we have participants heading to Syracuse from across the US and Canada for this great event. Hi Everyone, Last night was a nice evening to ride;  it was almost the longest day of the year (today is) so we had great light and the rain worked around us leaving us dry for the rides.  There were 41 members and three guests for a total of 44 people who believed my forecast and came out to ride.  We had 3 great rides to chose from: Al Storrings, Roland Pearson and myself lead the 10 mile easy road ride, Mike Lyon led the intermediate level ride and Tom Hotaling led his group on the challenge ride ...Continue Reading

    Mother Nature kept her nastiness to the north of Rt 20 and left us with a decent night for the Time Trial.  The  12 mph West wind buffeted the riders a bit on the way out, but much of it was shielded by Bare Mtn on the way back.  Eight riders queued up to do battle with the course.  Two others showed up later to practice as well. Hi Everyone,Will it rain? Or not? It’s rumbling off in the distance somewhere when I just came in from mowing the grass…but the sun is shining brightly here.  I looked at the radar and there are rain cells moving across the area but they seem fairly well separated from one another.  So, I think we’ll take a chance and go for it.  I got caught in the rain when I started to mow but that only lasted about 5 minutes and the sun came out.  Let’s go on the assumption that our routes will be in the dry area ...Continue Reading

Expanding a bit on Gus's comment regarding volunteers for Race Weekend, first I'd give a big thank-you to everyone who has already signed-up to volunteer!  Race Weekend doesn't happen without the support of the OCC membership. The venue for tomorrow night's TT will again be at the Lafayette location.  As I mentioned in earlier emails, this course is identical to the one that will be used this coming weekend for the Syracuse Race Weekend.    Even if you aren't racing this weekend, the course is a fun one to ride.  While there is some climbing (3% grade the last mile), you are rewarded with a fast ride back to the finish line.  The layout of the course is simple.... starting from Rowland Rd. - ride up 11A for 5.1 miles, ...Continue Reading
